A must visit when in Vienna. Delicious cakes (Klimt Torte) and pastries, exquisite interior and awesome location.
One of the most popular coffee houses in Vienna, often with a queue out the door, but you shouldn't have to wait too long. Amazing Apple Strudel and some of the best chocolate cake in Vienna :). A pianist plays daily from 5pm until closing.
A hidden oasis close to the heart of the city, with a very mixed crowd, from aging intellectuals to young locals to un- tourists. Something for everyone, from carnivores to vegetarians, from breakfast (served until 3pm) to dinner. Prices are low, portions are large, food is simple but good.
Ulrich is a great place to have breakfast/brunch. Very good coffee, many breakfast choices and very good atmosphere.
POC Cafe "People on Caffeine"

One of the best coffee places in town, in the middle of a very busy metro/tram station. Awesome good coffee close to University of Vienna, City hall, and Votiv church. Few places to sit but its mostly takeaway.
Very close to the hostel. Patricks (staff) favorite neighboorhood Cafe. Really friendly barista, tasty cakes and a lot of bio products that you can buy fresh from local farms. Coffee never dissapoints.
Cool hip place which is always full. Really nice peanut cake, brownies and refreshing drinks. Not far from hostel.
Classic "student's" bar near Mariahilferstrasse and Museumsquartier, cocktail of the week is usually great value, can be quite packed at times but you can have beers in a pub directly upstairs of Downstairs
